Welcome to the Alabama Communication Association. The call for papers for the 2013 convention is now online at the convention page. The convention will be held on July 27, 2013 at the University of Montevallo. Our keynote speaker will be Carl Cates, who currently serves as the Executive Director for Southern States Communication Association and as department chair of the Department of Communication Arts at Valdosta State University.
We are especially interested in student research at both the undergraduate and graduate level, so if you have students writing interesting papers please encourage them to submit their work. Faculty and graduate students are also encouraged to send their research or Great Ideas For Teaching Students (GIFTS) papers for presentation. We are especially interested in faculty who are interested in serving as respondents for the panels and graduate students who would like to serve as panel chairs. Interested parties should contact the conference planner at conference2013@alabamacommunication.org with their areas of interest and expertise. The deadline for submissions is May 18, 2013, so beat the rush and submit early.
Please recognize that if your work is accepted for presentation, you will be expected to attend the conference. At the 2012 convention, we had a significant number of no-shows who did not pay for the convention. This became problematic in that we had to pay for the luncheon (which is included in the conference registration fee) in advance, which represents a significant expense. We would like to trust people to be professional, so we are resisting the tactics used by other organizations. However, we would appreciate preregistration once you are accepted to the convention. This would also save considerable time at the convention. For more information, go to the Membership Page.
